Adam Handling Condemns Pub Guests After Dog Attack Kills Chickens and Customers Destroy Eggs

MasterChef finalist Adam Handling has publicly condemned guests at his Cornish pub after their unleashed dog killed several of his chickens and their children destroyed dozens of fertilised eggs. The 37-year-old Scottish chef, known for his appearances on the Great British Menu, described the Sunday incident at the Tartan Fox as "evil" and called the parents' conduct "completely unacceptable." Handling expressed particular frustration at the destruction of approximately 30 to 40 eggs that had been placed in the chicken coop for breeding purposes.

The Incident

The attack occurred when pub guests allowed their dogs off their leads despite visible signage requesting that pets remain leashed due to the presence of chickens on the property. Following the dog attack, several of Handling's chickens sustained injuries and subsequently died over the following days. The situation escalated when children entered the chicken coop and deliberately smashed the fertilised eggs against a tree, eliminating the breeding stock the chef had been cultivating.

In an emotional video statement recorded on a nearby beach, Handling expressed his distress over the animals' fate. He directed criticism not at the children themselves but at the parents who permitted such behaviour in a public venue. The chef emphasised the emotional connection he and his team maintain with the animals, describing the chickens as part of the pub's family.

Handling's Response

Alongside his video statement, Handling posted on social media that the behaviour demonstrated a fundamental lack of respect for shared spaces and the living creatures within them. He stressed that the incident reflected poorly on parental judgment and supervision. The chef's comments highlight broader concerns about visitor conduct at hospitality venues and the responsibility of customers to respect property and animal welfare guidelines.
