The Air Jordan 17 Low is receiving renewed attention from Jordan Brand with a glossy Black Patent finish launching in Europe on August 8, followed by a premium holiday collection and a historic College Blue reissue. The Black Patent Release
The upcoming Air Jordan 17 Low SP Black Patent reimagines the model's original 2002 black leather colorway with a modern material upgrade. The entire upper features a patent leather finish, with the exception of the tongue area, which uses perforated leather instead of the croc-embossed patent material found on the original pair. Chrome accents remain part of the design, maintaining visual continuity with the classic silhouette.
The European release will arrive under style code IV7640-001 at $245, with a broader global rollout expected to follow. The black and metallic silver colorway represents the first time the Air Jordan 17 has been offered in this particular finish treatment, signaling Jordan Brand's commitment to exploring fresh takes on overlooked models.
Expanded Release Schedule
Beyond the Black Patent version, the Air Jordan 17 Low will appear in Jordan Brand's holiday Black Pack collection alongside the Air Jordan 14 Low, Air Jordan 15, and Air Jordan 16. The Air Jordan 17 within this premium collection features stingray leather, elevating the material quality across the entire upper. This marks a broader effort by the brand to reintroduce post-1995 Air Jordan silhouettes with premium construction and colorways.
Looking ahead to next year, the Air Jordan 17 is scheduled to receive its first-ever reissue in its original College Blue colorway during NBA All-Star Weekend in February. The model's resurgence reflects a wider pattern at Jordan Brand, where previously understated silhouettes like the Air Jordan 16 are also receiving renewed attention and collaborative releases.
