Alexandra Eala won her first WTA Tour singles title at the Mubadala Citi DC Open in Washington on Monday, then returned to competition just two days later to advance in Toronto with a commanding three-set victory. The 20-year-old Filipino player defeated American Alycia Parks 6-1, 4-6, 6-2 in the second round of the National Bank Open, extending her impressive North American hard-court campaign and cementing her status as tennis's breakthrough star.

Dominant Performance in Toronto

Playing in her debut at the Toronto tournament, Eala overwhelmed Parks in the opening set, winning five consecutive games after trailing 1-1 to secure a 6-1 result without facing a single break point on serve.
