Antoni Porowski Launches National Geographic Series Following Queer Eye's Contentious Conclusion

Antoni Porowski has unveiled his post-"Queer Eye" project with National Geographic, launching "Best of the World With Antoni Porowski" on June 7 across Disney+ and Hulu. The series marks his first major venture four months after the Emmy-winning makeover show concluded, following months of public controversy involving cast members.

New Direction After Decade-Long Run

Porowski hosts and executive produces the travel series, which takes him across Mexico City, London, Paris, and New York City. The show represents a significant departure from the transformation-focused format that defined his nearly decade-long tenure on "Queer Eye," positioning him as an explorer of global cuisine and culture rather than a makeover specialist.

The timing of this announcement arrives amid ongoing turbulence surrounding "Queer Eye's" legacy. In January, cast member Karamo Brown withdrew from a television appearance, citing years of what he described as mental and emotional abuse. This public statement intensified scrutiny that had already mounted following a 2024 Rolling Stone investigation into alleged emotionally abusive behavior by fellow cast member Jonathan Van Ness, who has denied the allegations.

Addressing the Aftermath

When discussing the show's conclusion, Porowski acknowledged the controversies while attempting to redirect focus toward the program's stated mission. "I refuse to let however it ended be a distraction from the messaging because the messaging, I swear to you, was always real and always coming from a truthful place," he told Variety. He expressed sadness that the drama had overshadowed recognition of everyone who contributed across the show's multiple seasons and its entire production history.

Porowski revealed uncertainty about his relationships with other cast members, stating he remains in touch with "some" of them without elaborating. He acknowledged being "left with more questions than answers" regarding how the series concluded but emphasized his commitment to preserving the show's core impact—helping viewers encounter openly queer people and celebrating community and inclusivity.
