King's Performance Decline

King had delivered exceptional results through mid-July, posting a sterling 0.55 ERA across 17 consecutive appearances between late May and early July, finishing with a 2-0 record. However, his final four outings revealed a dramatic reversal in form. Over that span, King accumulated an 0.2 record with a 14.40 ERA and registered a blown save, allowing five home runs in just five innings of work. The sudden deterioration prompted Astros manager Joe Espada to send him to the minor leagues for targeted mechanical adjustments.

Espada outlined a clear directive for King's development, focusing on improving fastball placement against right-handed hitters and continuing to refine his slider effectiveness against left-handed batters. "He has that invisible fastball, especially against righties," Espada explained, indicating the coaching staff identified specific technical areas requiring refinement during the demotion.

Bullpen Reinforcement and Upcoming Matchup
