Brandon Marsh Wins Fan-Elected All-Star Spot, Leading Phillies to Record Six Selections
Brandon Marsh secured his first All-Star selection as a fan-elected starting outfielder, receiving more fan votes than any other National League outfielder.

Brandon Marsh has earned his first All-Star selection as a fan-elected starting outfielder for the National League, marking the first Phillies outfielder to win a fan-voted starting spot since Raul Ibañez in 2009. The Philadelphia Phillies will send six players to the All-Star Game on July 14 at Citizens Bank Park, the most of any team competing in the 96th Midsummer Classic.
Marsh's Breakout Season
Marsh has delivered one of the finest breakout campaigns in recent Phillies history. Through the first half of the season, he is batting .305 with 15 home runs, 46 RBIs, and an .844 on-base plus slugging percentage. His performance in fan voting demonstrated the strength of his appeal, as he accumulated more votes than any of the six National League outfielders that advanced to the second round of voting.
Interim manager Don Mattingly acknowledged the significance of Marsh's achievement. "I think that first one is always special," Mattingly said. "I just think that first one validates, 'I've made it. I'm an All-Star.' It's just huge."
A Record Six Phillies Heading to Citizens Bank Park
Beyond Marsh's selection, the Phillies secured five additional All-Star representatives. Bryce Harper received Commissioner Rob Manfred's discretionary "Legend Pick," recognizing the veteran's continued elite performance at age 33. Kyle Schwarber, who leads Major League Baseball with 30 home runs and owns a .561 slugging percentage, earned his spot through player voting, as did pitcher Cristopher Sánchez and closer Jhoan Duran, who finished second in reliever voting.
Pitcher Jesús Luzardo completed the roster as a late addition on Tuesday, replacing an injured pitcher. Luzardo, in his first All-Star appearance, noted the team's resilience. "It's obviously an honor," he said. "The first one of my career. It's been a good year as a team to fight back from a bad start, so it's just a good note, but something to continue to build on."
Duran, acquired last summer, expressed gratitude for his selection after establishing himself as one of baseball's most dominant closers. "It's a dream come true," Duran said. "I've always wanted to be there. This year I had a really good first half. I'm proud about what I did."
