Chadwick Boseman's Brothers Challenge Widow's Control of Multimillion-Dollar Estate

The brothers of late Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman have filed a court petition in Los Angeles seeking to remove his widow, Taylor Simone Ledward, as administrator of his multimillion-dollar estate, accusing her of mismanagement and withholding funds from family members. Derrick and Kevin Boseman filed on behalf of their parents, who inherited 25 percent each of the actor's assets, while Ledward received 50 percent and was appointed administrator.

The Legal Challenge

According to court documents, Boseman died in August 2020 at age 43, leaving behind assets valued at approximately $3.8 million without a valid will. The estate comprised residual payments, royalties, intellectual property rights, investments, insurance policies, and multiple bank accounts. When no will existed, California law directed that Ledward and Boseman's parents, Leroy and Carolyn Boseman, share the inheritance according to statutory proportions.

The brothers' petition asserts that Ledward "has still not distributed the estate" and continues exercising unilateral control over it. They claim she has maintained a "lack of transparency" regarding asset management and kept their parents uninformed about operations of a company established to oversee his image and rights. The filing requests that the court order full distribution of remaining assets, remove Ledward as administrator, and appoint a private fiduciary and forensic accountant to investigate alleged misconduct.

Impact on Family

The petition emphasizes that the delay has caused "ongoing harm" to Boseman's elderly parents during a critical period of their lives when financial security matters most. The brothers argue that their lack of access to estate information has prevented them from pursuing business opportunities that could benefit their parents. In their statement, they expressed commitment to ensuring "transparency, accountability, and respect" in resolving the matter and providing their parents with "closure."

Ledward, an R&B artist known professionally as Sahn, married Boseman just six days before his death in 2020. They had been in a relationship since 2015. Her legal representatives have not yet responded to requests for comment on the allegations.
