Colorado Rapids Sign French Midfielder Youssef Maziz to Bolster MLS Standings Push

The Colorado Rapids have acquired French midfielder Youssef Maziz on a contract through the 2027-28 season with a club option for 2028-29, the organization announced. Maziz, 28, joins from Belgian Pro League side OH Leuven on a free transfer and is expected to bolster the Rapids' attacking midfield as they sit 13th in the Western Conference with 19 points.

Midfielder Profile and European Experience

Maziz brings substantial European credentials to Commerce City. Over three seasons with OH Leuven, the French midfielder made 114 appearances across all competitions, contributing 15 goals and 16 assists while establishing himself as a regular starter in the attacking midfield role. His most recent campaign saw him appear in 27 matches with three goals and three assists for the Belgian club.

The midfielder's career trajectory began within the FC Metz system, where he progressed through youth and reserve team structures. After loan spells at US Avranches, Le Mans FC, and RFC Seraing, Maziz signed with FC Metz's first team in July 2020. During his time in France, he accumulated 50 appearances across all competitions with 9 goals and 7 assists. Across his entire career, Maziz has recorded 60 goals and 38 assists in 307 club appearances. Born in France to Moroccan parents, he represented France at the U-16 level.
