Dundee United has secured winger Daniel Bennie on a season-long loan from Championship side QPR, marking the club's tenth summer addition under manager Jim Goodwin. The 20-year-old will aim to develop his craft at Scottish Premiership level after gaining senior experience in England's second tier.

Player Background and Development Path

Bennie was born in Hong Kong to Scottish parents before relocating to Western Australia in 2017. He progressed through grassroots football before joining Perth Glory's youth system in 2021, where he gained prominence as a rising prospect in Australian football. His breakout came during a successful campaign in Perth's A-League, culminating in a pre-season appearance against West Ham United in summer 2023, where the then-17-year-old scored as Perth Glory played the English side.

During his first full season in men's football with Perth Glory, Bennie accumulated nearly 2,000 minutes of competitive action and registered four goal contributions, catching the attention of QPR scouts. The Rangers brought him to West London in May 2024, initially as part of their development pathway before integrating him into first-team structures.

Recent Form at QPR

At Loftus Road, Bennie made his Championship debut against West Bromwich Albion and featured in matchday squads for nearly every fixture from early January through the end of the 2025/26 season. His breakthrough moment came with a goal against Hull City in a 3-1 victory. Most impressively, he scored eight goals in ten games for QPR's development side before transitioning to senior appearances, demonstrating consistency in front of goal.

Manager Jim Goodwin identified Bennie as a key addition for Dundee United's attacking depth. "He's direct, pacy, and adds versatility across our front line," Goodwin stated. Bennie, eligible for both Australia at youth level and the Scotland national team, expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity.
