Model and actress Emily Ratajkowski has secured a seven-figure publishing contract with Penguin Press for her upcoming memoir examining modern motherhood and romantic life following her 2022 divorce. The book, titled "Mother F*cker," emerged as the winner from a competitive 12-way bidding process among major publishers.

The Book and Its Origins

The forthcoming memoir builds on the success of Ratajkowski's 2021 New York Times bestseller, "My Body," a collection of essays that established her voice in the literary sphere. "Mother F*cker" centers on her personal journey navigating single parenthood and dating in New York City, developed from a viral essay she published on The Cut. The narrative details her experiences as a newly single mother rediscovering her identity through romantic relationships with various men, including colorful sketches of a "heavily self-medicated son of a billionaire with questionable politics," multiple Italian suitors, and several DJs.

Ratajkowski announced the project to her 20 million Instagram followers in June. The essay that inspired the book opens with her reflection: "After becoming a single mom, I began compulsively dating in order to figure out what kind of woman I wanted to be." This core theme shapes the book's exploration of female identity, autonomy, and self-discovery in contemporary relationships.

Ratajkowski's Expanding Creative Portfolio

The book deal represents one of several major projects underway for the 35-year-old creative. She is developing an Apple TV series with author Stephanie Danler and executive producer Lena Dunham that similarly explores female identity and modern motherhood. Ratajkowski is attached to star in the project, which will mark her screenwriting debut. Beyond these ventures, she hosts and executive produces the podcast "High Low With EmRata" and has appeared in notable film and television work, including David Fincher's "Gone Girl," the Netflix limited series "Too Much," and the "Entourage" feature film.
