Five New Cast Members Join EastEnders as the Hawkins Family Arrives in Walford

Five new cast members are joining EastEnders as the Hawkins family, the estranged relatives of character Nicola Mitchell, arrive in Walford this summer. The family's arrival will introduce decades of complicated history and fractured relationships that are expected to create substantial storyline impact across the BBC soap.

The Cast and Characters

Patricia Potter, known for her five-year role as consultant surgeon Diane Lloyd in Holby City, will play Gemma Hawkins. Jamie Bamber, whose credits include Law & Order: UK and Beyond Paradise, takes on the role of Ned Roper, Gemma's husband. Felix Uff, appearing in Amadeus, will portray their son Ryder. Completing the family are Marian McLoughlin, cast from the series Trying, as their mother Rose, and Anna Constable, known for Imposter 22, as Jodie, Nicola's youngest sister.

The family unit also includes a dog, according to production announcements. The casting represents the first major family introduction under executive producer Ben Wadey's tenure at the show, and the first overall since the Knight family and a recast Elaine Peacock moved into The Queen Vic in June 2023.
