Kavinsky, the French DJ and electronic music producer behind the internationally recognized track Nightcall, has died at age 50 in his Paris residence. According to reports, authorities are investigating the possibility of a stroke as the cause. The musician's real name was Vincent Belorgey.

Kavinsky achieved worldwide prominence through Nightcall, released as an EP in 2010 with vocals from Lovefoxxx. The track became globally recognized after its placement during the opening credits of the 2011 film Drive. Recent exposure came when the artist performed the song live at the 2024 Paris Olympics closing ceremony alongside French singer Angèle, followed by the release of a new version that achieved significant commercial success in France and internationally.

Kavinsky developed his musical persona around a fictional narrative: the character died in a car crash in 1986 and reappeared as a zombie in 2006.
