Several prominent golfers have opted to compete at the ISCO Championship rather than prepare for The Open Championship at Royal Birkdale by playing the Genesis Scottish Open. Max Homa, an American competitor, made this choice after securing a last-minute invitation to The Open following a runner-up finish at the John Deere Classic. Rather than travel to Scotland to acclimate to links-style golf, Homa elected to remain stateside and compete for a potential FedExCup point boost.

Homa acknowledged the unconventional decision, noting that while he values Scotland as a golf destination, the ISCO Championship offered strategic advantages for his late-season push. He highlighted the course's quality and praised the event's reputation among fellow competitors, particularly citing recommendations from other tour professionals.

Membership and Prize Structure

The tournament offers distinct pathways for members and non-members. If a PGA Tour member secures the title, they receive the standard two-year exemption and 300 FedExCup points. Non-members who win gain temporary membership through 2027, though their FedExCup points would not count toward the 2026 standings. DP World Tour members finishing inside the top five receive guaranteed spots in the following week's Corals Puntacana Championship.
