Jarrod Bowen Commits to West Ham's Championship Campaign with Revised Contract
The England international rejected approaches from rival Premier League clubs to lead the Hammers' push for promotion.

Jarrod Bowen has agreed to a revised West Ham contract, committing himself to the club's Championship campaign following their Premier League relegation. The 29-year-old England captain rejected interest from Aston Villa and other top-flight clubs to remain at London Stadium. His decision signals West Ham's determination to retain their best players during a pivotal rebuilding period.
Bowen's revised deal does not extend his existing contract beyond its 2030 expiration date but reflects the club's move to the second tier for the upcoming season—West Ham's first spell outside the Premier League in 14 years. The attacker made clear his priorities in a video statement, saying "the main motivation for me is staying and bringing this club back into the Premier League, where we belong." He explained that he travelled to Prague to meet co-owners Daniel Křetínský and Jiri Švarc, and was convinced by their vision for the club's future.
The 29-year-old has established himself as a West Ham institution since joining from Hull City in January 2020 for £22 million. Over six-and-a-half years, he has made 280 appearances, scoring 85 goals and providing 63 assists. His most iconic moment came in the 2023 UEFA Conference League final, when he scored the 90th-minute winner against Fiorentina to secure the club's first major trophy in 43 years. Last season, despite West Ham's struggles, Bowen contributed 11 goals and 12 assists across 42 matches in all competitions.
West Ham faced the prospect of losing multiple key players this summer following relegation. Portuguese midfielder Mateus Fernandes departed to Tottenham for £85 million, while winger Crysencio Summerville is expected to leave, with Manchester United reportedly considering him as a left-wing option. Bowen's commitment provides stability and reflects the club's confidence in their promotion ambitions. The captain holds 22 international caps for England but was not included in Thomas Tuchel's 2026 World Cup squad.
