Jessica Shepard Competes in WNBA All-Star Shooting Stars Contest Alongside Basketball Legend Deanna Nolan

Dallas Wings forward Jessica Shepard has been selected to participate in the Kia WNBA Shooting Stars Contest, a timed shooting competition scheduled for Friday, July 24 at Wintrust Arena in Chicago. She will compete alongside three-time WNBA champion Deanna Nolan, representing the Dallas/Detroit market. The event is part of the AT&T WNBA All-Star weekend and will air live on ESPN at 8 p.m. ET.

Competition Format and Matchups

The Shooting Stars Contest features four teams, each representing different WNBA markets: Minnesota, Seattle, Washington, and Dallas/Detroit. Each team comprises three generations of women's basketball talent—WNBA legends, current All-Stars, and elite high school players from the Nike EYBL. The Shepard-Nolan pairing will be joined by a standout high school competitor as the third team member.

The competition operates as a two-round, timed event where teams have 70 seconds to score points from seven shooting locations across the court. These positions range from layups to long-range three-pointers. The two teams with the highest opening-round scores advance to a championship round to determine the final winner.

Shepard's All-Star Weekend Schedule

Beyond the Shooting Stars Contest, Shepard's All-Star commitments extend to Saturday's main event. She will compete in the AT&T WNBA All-Star Game on July 25 at United Center in Chicago, joining Dallas teammate Paige Bueckers. The All-Star Game begins at 8:30 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on ABC, Disney+, and the ESPN App.

Nolan, who played for the Detroit Shock from 2001 to 2009, won WNBA championships in 2003, 2006, and 2008. The Dallas Wings organization traces its franchise history directly to Detroit, having relocated to Tulsa before eventually settling in Dallas, making the Shepard-Nolan pairing a celebration of the franchise's storied past.
