Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton Return to DP World Tour Competition at Scottish Open
Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton will compete in the DP World Tour's Genesis Scottish Open at Renaissance Club in North Berwick.

Two prominent LIV Golf players have secured conditional releases to compete in a DP World Tour-sanctioned event. Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton will participate in the Genesis Scottish Open at Renaissance Club in North Berwick between July 9 and 12, marking their first non-major PGA Tour-affiliated appearance since switching to the Saudi-backed league. The tournament will award both Race to Dubai rankings and FedEx Cup points, making it a significant milestone in the evolving relationship between competing professional golf circuits.

The Road to Resolution
Rahm and Hatton's participation represents the conclusion of lengthy disputes with the DP World Tour. The two-time major champion reached a conditional agreement with the European circuit in May following nearly three years of tension, while Hatton settled his own outstanding differences in February. Both players maintained DP World Tour membership status, which granted them eligibility to compete in co-sanctioned events alongside the PGA Tour.
The Genesis Scottish Open serves as Rahm's first non-major PGA Tour event since the 2023 Tour Championship. Hatton's last comparable tournament appearance came at the 2024 Sony Open before transitioning to LIV Golf. Together with major signings, the pair represents the growing integration of LIV golfers into traditional tour events, a development that has reshaped competitive golf's landscape over recent seasons.
A Strong Field Takes Shape
The event has attracted considerable European talent. Leading Ryder Cup contenders including Rory McIlroy, Ludovic Aberg, Shane Lowry, Viktor Hovland, Tommy Fleetwood, and Robert MacIntyre have committed to the Renaissance Club tournament. Genesis Scottish Open Championship Director Rory Colville emphasized the strength of the field, noting the event continues to draw world-class competitors.
Both Rahm and Hatton arrive in strong form. Rahm has recorded two LIV victories this season, while Hatton won LIV's most recent event at Valderrama earlier in the month. The duo will not return to LIV competition until the U.K. event scheduled for July 23 through 26, as LIV's originally planned New Orleans tournament was canceled.
