King Charles Reaches Highest Approval Rating as Monarchy Gains Broader Public Support

King Charles III has reached his highest-ever approval rating of 68 per cent, according to latest polling data, marking a six-point increase since spring. The figures reveal significant political divides, with Conservative voters showing strongest support at 90 per cent, while Reform UK backers represent the most critical demographic.

Record Approval Reflects Growing Confidence

Recent YouGov Royal Family tracker data shows the monarch's performance rating has climbed substantially, with the proportion viewing him unfavourably falling to 16 per cent. This sustained upward trend suggests the public has developed increased confidence in Charles's tenure since his accession nearly four years ago. His personal favourability rating has remained steady between 59 and 63 per cent over the past two years, currently standing at 62 per cent positive against 31 per cent negative.

Political Allegiance Creates Clear Divides

Support for the King correlates strongly with voting patterns. Conservative voters emerge as his strongest backers, with nine in ten rating his performance positively. Liberal Democrat supporters follow at 78 per cent approval, with Labour voters close behind at 72 per cent. However, Reform UK voters present a marked contrast—only 57 to 58 per cent approve of Charles's tenure, representing a substantial shift from spring polling when 66 per cent of Reform voters held him in positive regard.

The decline among Reform voters is particularly notable: in the previous cycle, just 28 per cent believed the King was performing inadequately, yet this figure has risen to 35 per cent. Green party voters also show modest support at 58 per cent, closely matching Reform levels.

Broader Royal Family Standing

William and Catherine, the Prince and Princess of Wales, continue to dominate royal popularity rankings, commanding between 74 and 76 per cent favourable opinion from the British public. Princess Anne maintains strong support at 70 per cent, while Prince Edward and Sophie demonstrate solid standing at 51 to 53 per cent positive views. Queen Camilla remains polarising, with opinion essentially split—43 per cent view her positively while 44 per cent hold unfavourable opinions.

Across the broader monarchy, 64 per cent of Britons believe the United Kingdom should retain the institution, suggesting structural support for the system itself extends beyond individual figures.
