The British singer died in October 2024 at age 31 following a fall from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina. At the time of his death, Payne had not executed a will and was not married or in a civil partnership, establishing Bear as the natural heir to his assets. His mother, singer Cheryl Tweedy, and music lawyer Richard Bray were appointed as estate administrators, responsible for collecting and preserving Payne's assets during the probate process.

The estate includes a five-bedroom English home that Payne purchased in 2021 to remain closer to his son following his separation from Tweedy. Court documents from Britain's High Court confirm the asset valuations and distribution structure. Under probate regulations, any individual wishing to file a claim against the estate has six months from the date of these disclosures to do so.

Partner Status and Claims

At the time of his death, Payne was in a relationship with influencer Kate Cassidy. She has not pursued any claim against the estate, and sources close to Cassidy indicated she does not intend to make one. Cassidy previously addressed speculation about her financial interests in their relationship, stating that the nature of their bond was a private matter between the two of them.

Bear was born in March 2017, several months before his parents ended their relationship in July 2018. As the sole beneficiary with no other children or surviving spouses, Bear's inheritance encompasses the entirety of Payne's recorded assets at the time of probate valuation.
