A major fire swept through Thurmaston Shopping Centre in Leicestershire early Saturday morning, destroying the building and forcing the largest emergency response of its kind to the location. Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service received multiple emergency calls at approximately 04:00 BST reporting a large fire affecting several units at the shopping centre on Barkby Thorpe Lane. At its height, the response involved 40 firefighters, eight fire engines, and two aerial appliances battling the blaze. Video footage captured the fire consuming the building, with dramatic imagery showing the roof collapsing as flames tore through the structure.

The fire service contained the incident before it could spread further, preventing potential damage to the entire shopping centre complex.
