Manchester United have rejected Newcastle's enquiry for Mason Mount, with manager Michael Carrick deciding the midfielder will remain at Old Trafford. Mount joined Manchester United from Chelsea in July 2023 for a total package valued at £60 million. Since his arrival, he has made 72 appearances for the club, scoring seven goals and providing two assists. Despite injuries limiting his impact, Carrick has emerged as a strong advocate for the midfielder's long-term prospects at Old Trafford.

Carrick's Confidence in Mount's Potential

Carrick is described as "a huge admirer" of Mount and believes "there is still a top-class player waiting to emerge once he is able to enjoy an uninterrupted run of fitness." The manager values Mount's tactical flexibility, work ethic, and intelligence, qualities that have made him popular within the dressing room. Mount is under contract at United until summer 2028, with the club holding an option to extend the agreement by a further year.

With Kobbie Mainoo as the only fully fit senior central midfielder, Mount has become crucial to the club's plans.
