Netflix Greenlights Monopoly Reality Competition Series With $2 Million Grand Prize
Netflix has greenlit a Monopoly-based reality competition series with a $2 million grand prize premiering in fall 2027.

Netflix has officially greenlit a reality competition series based on the Monopoly board game, offering contestants a $2 million grand prize to compete in a life-sized Town Square environment. The show, produced by Studio Lambert, will premiere in fall 2027 and is now accepting auditions.
The Competition Format
Twelve contestants will enter the fully realized Monopoly Town Square on equal footing, but that equality will not persist. Players must accumulate wealth and property while navigating negotiations and strategic decisions that determine their survival in the game. Each roll of the dice, negotiation outcome, and financial choice carries weight—contestants who cannot maintain solvency face elimination one by one until a single player remains to claim the entire prize pool.
According to the competition structure, players will have the opportunity to earn money, acquire properties, broker deals, and attempt to avoid bankruptcy. The show mirrors the board game's core mechanics while expanding them into a televised spectacle with real-world consequences for in-game decisions.
Production and Partnership Details
Studio Lambert, the production company behind Netflix's successful Squid Game: The Challenge and The Circle, will handle production. The creative team includes Nia Yemoh, Tim Harcourt, Jack Burgess, Stephen Lambert, and Kim Murphy as executive producers from Studio Lambert, alongside Gabriel Marano and Zachary Edwin from Hasbro Entertainment. Netflix secured the rights to Monopoly through a partnership with Hasbro last year.
The greenlight came after approximately 50 production companies competed for the opportunity to develop the series. The project was a priority for Netflix's unscripted division, with executives citing the success of the mobile game Monopoly Go! as evidence of the brand's cultural relevance and audience appeal.
Audition Process
Netflix is accepting auditions from viewers interested in becoming one of the 12 competitors. Interested applicants can submit their information through Netflix's official casting portal, with selection based on factors the streamer has not yet fully disclosed.
