The False Accusation and Arrest

In 2016, Michelle Hadley found herself arrested and held in California custody for nearly three months based on allegations connected to a stalking campaign. The initial narrative blamed her for orchestrating harassing emails and impersonating another woman on Craigslist. During this period, local media portrayed her as the villain in what appeared to be a relationship-revenge conspiracy. However, the case began to unravel when inconsistencies surfaced in the account provided by the woman at the center of the complaint: Angela Connell, then-wife of federal deputy US marshal Ian Diaz.

Unraveling the Pattern of Deception

The documentary reveals that Angela's credibility had been questioned before. Her ex-boyfriend Jason Rayburn described discovering that Angela had fabricated a Stage 4 cervical cancer diagnosis, insisting on attending medical appointments alone before he discovered the clinic was actually treating her for a mole removal. Jason also found that Angela had falsely claimed to be an attorney with the Department of Justice and had stolen medical images from chemotherapy sessions to support her fabricated illness narrative.

The deception extended further when Ian Diaz himself discovered that Angela's claims of pregnancy with twins were false. He found altered pregnancy tests marked with blue marker and doctored sonogram images. Angela had also been lying about her employment status. These discoveries prompted a federal investigation that eventually shifted focus away from Michelle and toward the person who had orchestrated the false accusations.
