Nicola Peltz's Parents Face Second Lawsuit Over Rescue Dog Named Houdini

Nelson and Claudia Peltz, parents of Nicola Peltz Beckham, are defendants in a second dog attack lawsuit involving their rescue dog Houdini. Employee Joy Ransom filed suit claiming the dog attacked her on December 23, 2025, with Nicola present at the family residence. The Peltzes previously settled a separate lawsuit involving the same dog in December 2024.

The Current Lawsuit

Joy Ransom filed her complaint on July 10, 2025, alleging that Houdini attacked her while she worked at the Peltz family home. According to court documents, Ransom claims the dog was not under restraint or control at the time of the incident. She alleges that the family was aware of the dog's propensity to attack people, yet failed to obtain proper behavioral training or a certificate of registration for Houdini.

Ransom is seeking over $50,000 USD in damages to cover medical expenses, bodily injury, physical and mental pain and suffering, disability, and permanent aggravation of any pre-existing conditions. The lawsuit also names Nicola Peltz Beckham as being present during the alleged attack, though she is not listed as a defendant.

Pattern of Incidents

This case marks the second lawsuit against Nelson and Claudia Peltz regarding their rescue dog. A previous employee at the family's Palm Beach residence filed suit in connection with an incident on December 16, 2024, when Houdini allegedly lunged at and attempted to attack her, causing injuries from a fall. That case was settled confidentially, though the terms were not disclosed publicly.

Ransom's lawsuit references the previous incident as evidence that the Peltz family failed to report Houdini's dangerous behavior despite having notice. The dog, which was adopted from an animal shelter co-founded by Nicola Peltz Beckham, came into the family's care at five years old in October 2022. Neither Brooklyn Beckham nor Nicola Peltz Beckham has made a public statement regarding the new lawsuit.
