Rich Paul Describes Organic Path to Romance with Adele After Years of Friendship

Sports agent Rich Paul disclosed that his relationship with Grammy Award-winning singer Adele developed gradually through mutual social circles, beginning as a friendship before transitioning to romance. The Klutch Sports Group founder, who represents athletes including LeBron James and Anthony Davis, spoke about their unconventional path to partnership during an appearance on Craig Melvin's "Glass Half Full" podcast.

From Acquaintance to Partner

Paul explained that he and Adele initially met through a mutual friend and inhabited the same entertainment and sports circles. Rather than pursuing a romantic approach with established acquaintances, Paul said he maintained respectful boundaries. "When you're in these circles, I never tried to get fresh with people that's in comfortable circles because they always have to deal with that," he stated. The two would see each other at social gatherings, laugh together, and maintain what Paul described as a "cordial" dynamic.

The transition from friendship to romance happened naturally over time. "Until it became not so cordial. Until I became a person of interest," Paul joked during the podcast interview. The pair were first spotted together publicly at a Phoenix Suns game in July 2021, though their relationship remained relatively private for years. Paul acknowledged he was not extensively familiar with Adele's music before they met, though he recognized her biggest hits.

Engagement and Future Plans

Adele confirmed their engagement in August 2024 during her residency performances in Munich. When a fan at one of her concerts held up a sign proposing marriage, Adele responded by revealing she was already engaged. "I can't marry you because I'm already getting married!" she announced to the audience while displaying her diamond ring. The timeline for their wedding has not yet been disclosed.

Paul is the 44-year-old founder of Klutch Sports Group, a representation agency managing some of professional basketball's most prominent figures. Adele was previously married to Simon Konecki, with whom she shares a son born in 2012. The couple divorced in March 2021, roughly three months before she and Paul were first seen together publicly.
