Wrexham AFC secured a 4-2 victory against FC Pyunik in their inaugural Women's Champions League qualifying round match, advancing to Saturday's final against Riga. The result marks the first competitive European win by a Welsh team in women's football since Cardiff Met in the 2019-20 season. Manager Jenny Sugarman's squad demonstrated resilience after conceding early, mounting a commanding response to claim their place in the next round.

Historic European Debut

Wrexham's entry into the Champions League represents a milestone for the club, which clinched the Adran Premier title for the first time last season. The Armenian champions struck first through Susanna Badalya in the 12th minute, capitalizing on a defensive lapse. However, the home side responded within minutes when Katie Barker, the former Newcastle United striker, capitalized on Faye Knox's left-wing cross to level proceedings and restore confidence at the Racecourse.
