Sam Worthington Says His Three Sons Don't Watch His Films, But One Recently Binged His Netflix Series

Actor Sam Worthington revealed that his three sons rarely display interest in his professional work, though his wife and one of his children recently stayed awake until 4 a.m. binge-watching his new Netflix series. The 49-year-old discussed his family's relationship with his career during an appearance at the New York City premiere of his latest project on June 17.

A Pragmatic Approach to Family and Fame

Worthington maintains a measured perspective about his children's engagement with his filmography. "I'm not going to ask them to," he stated in an exclusive interview, emphasizing that "kids don't feed your ego." The actor, who shares three sons—Rocket (born 2015), Racer (born 2016), and River (born 2020)—with wife Lara Worthington, previously explained in a 2022 appearance that his children viewed his occupation simply as being their father rather than recognizing his celebrity status.

An Unexpected Exception

Despite his typical expectation that his sons will skip his work, Worthington revealed an exception to the pattern. His wife and one of his children obtained early screener episodes of his Netflix series and consumed all available installments consecutively through the early morning hours. "She and my son watched it until four in the morning. They binged them all," Worthington recounted, describing their experience of attempting to predict plot developments before each subsequent episode disproved their theories.

The Project Behind the Binge

Worthington stars in "I Will Find You," a Netflix series based on author Harlan Coben's work, playing David Burroughs, a man imprisoned for his son's murder who escapes to pursue evidence the boy may still be alive. The cast includes Britt Lower and Milo Ventimiglia. Worthington credited his wife's enthusiasm for Coben's previous Netflix adaptations as motivation for accepting the role. "My wife liked Harlan's series on Netflix. When I said he wanted to chat on the phone, she said, 'Take the call,'" Worthington recalled.
