SNL comedian Sarah Sherman shared details of a playful encounter with Paul McCartney, 84, who physically examined her signature mullet after she mentioned their hairstyles resembled one another. The interaction occurred during the season 51 finale of Saturday Night Live in May, with McCartney serving as the musical guest.

Sherman, 33, had incorporated a comedic bit into her SNL performance referencing the similarity between her mullet and the hairstyle McCartney famously wore during his Wings period. After the episode concluded, the music legend approached her and pulled up the back of her hair to verify whether it was a natural hairstyle or a wig.

When McCartney posed the question directly, Sherman confirmed the mullet was genuine. She then expressed her admiration for his work, telling him that his album McCartney II ranked as her personal favorite, with the track "Temporary Secretary" being her preferred song. Sherman recalled apologizing for the abundance of compliments, to which McCartney responded with an encouraging request: "I love adulation. Adulate me. Adulate me."
