The Seattle Storm travel to Portland on Wednesday to face the Fire in a Western Conference WNBA Commissioner's Cup game, with both teams hampered by injury concerns and seeking momentum in a critical stretch. Injury Situations Shape Wednesday's Matchup
Seattle has ruled out three players for Wednesday's game. Forward Ezi Magbegor remains sidelined due to a right foot injury that has kept her out since the start of the season. Guard Jordan Horston was also ruled out after sustaining a right foot injury during Friday's loss to Golden State, and forward Taina Mair is unavailable due to a coach's decision.
Portland's roster also faces availability questions. Forward Karlie Samuelson is listed as questionable with left adductor tightness and is in danger of missing her second consecutive game. Defender Holly Winterburn carries questionable status with a right foot sprain but played through the injury in Monday's loss to Minnesota.
Storm Seek Turnaround Behind Hiedeman's Hot Stretch
Despite the losing streak, Seattle guard Natisha Hiedeman has emerged as a bright spot. She recorded 26 points, four rebounds, and five assists in Friday's loss and is enjoying a career-best offensive season at 14.7 points per game. Over her last three games, Hiedeman has elevated that average to 19.7 points. She leads the Storm in field goal attempts and three-point attempts while ranking second in minutes played.
Analyst predictions favor Seattle capitalizing on Portland's defensive vulnerabilities. The Fire rank with the WNBA's worst defensive rating at 111.3 overall, which has deteriorated further to 117.0 over the last five games. During that span, Portland has surrendered 92.4 points per game—the second-highest total in the league. Rookie Awa Fam, who has started five consecutive games, adds another scoring option and could benefit from the matchup.
The game tips off at 10:00 p.m. ET from the Moda Center in Portland.
