Sicario Confesses to Carwash Owner Murder Ordered Over Romantic Rivalry in Peru

Peruvian authorities have arrested five members of a criminal organization following the murder of a carwash owner whose death was allegedly orchestrated by a gang leader jealous over a romantic relationship. The killing, which took place in San Juan de Lurigancho on August 5, occurred after the business proprietor reportedly became involved with the partner of the gang's chief. Security footage captured the entire attack, and the suspect shooter has already admitted to the crime.

The Crime and Investigation

Jonathan Jesus Santos Carrasco operated a car wash business known as "Alo Jhons" when he was shot five times by the assailant. Video surveillance showed him attending to customers when a woman entered the premises. Minutes later, while he was distracted on a telephone call, the gunman entered and fired multiple rounds. Although Santos attempted to remain standing after the assault, he died shortly after being transported to a medical facility.

The investigation by the Anti-Extortion Division identified the motive as stemming from a personal conflict. Jhair Michel Maravi Inga, alias "Farruko," a 26-year-old former inmate and leader of the criminal organization "Los Farrukos de Totorita," allegedly discovered that Santos was romantically involved with his live-in partner, Paola Noemi Gamonal Quiliche, age 26. Enraged, Farruko ordered the execution.

The Chain of Command

According to investigators, Farruko delegated the task to his lieutenant Angel Robles Minaya, nicknamed "Piraña," who contacted Venezuelan national Saul Javier Jimenez Rodriguez, age 26, to carry out the killing. Jimenez, known as "Saul," admitted to the shooting, telling police: "My mind became clouded... I shot him several times." He claimed he received a firearm from another gang member called "Gordo," a drug dealer, though payment was never made.

A fifth suspect, Jorge Luis Gonas, alias "Especial," was captured on security cameras entering the carwash immediately after the shooting. Authorities allege he collected and concealed the victim's mobile telephone before fleeing, an action intended to eliminate digital evidence. The phone was later recovered in a formatted state.

Arrest and Evidence

All five detainees were apprehended during an operation conducted by the Anti-Extortion Investigation Division. Intelligence personnel had conducted months of surveillance based on information provided by a protected witness, which enabled authorities to reconstruct each suspect's role in the conspiracy. The organization is under investigation not only for this homicide but also for extortion, drug trafficking, and other serious crimes. Prosecutor William Orlandini of the Third Penal Corporate Fiscal Office is leading the case.
