Fritz extended his extraordinary dominance over Zverev to seven consecutive victories, having won 10 of his 15 career meetings against the world number three. The American's performance marked his fifth appearance in an ATP 500 final. This week's run included notable victories over Ben Shelton, the third seed who defeated Fritz in the Stuttgart final just one week prior, demonstrating exceptional form on grass surfaces.

After the match, Fritz acknowledged the circumstances of his opponent's physical struggles while crediting his own consistent level of play. "I felt he was struggling with something, I'm not sure what it was—presumably how insanely hot it was," Fritz stated. "I felt better than he did, so that was what I needed to tell myself to go to work." He noted that reaching the final represented a significant achievement given the strength of the draw, which unusually lacked top players Novak Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz, and Jannik Sinner.
