The Rolling Stones Launch Speaking In Tongues Podcast Ahead of Foreign Tongues Album Release
The Rolling Stones have announced Speaking In Tongues, a six-episode podcast featuring The Cure's Robert Smith and other collaborators.

The Rolling Stones have unveiled Speaking In Tongues, an official podcast series narrated by Grammy Award-winning singer Norah Jones that explores the creative process behind their forthcoming album Foreign Tongues. The six-episode program will feature exclusive interviews with band members Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Ronnie Wood, alongside guest contributions from The Cure's Robert Smith, Steve Winwood, producer Andrew Watt, and album cover artist Nathaniel Mary Quinn. Episodes begin rolling out on June 25, with the Foreign Tongues album scheduled for release on July 10.
Behind-the-Scenes Access and Guest Contributions
Speaking In Tongues promises listeners an intimate look at the making of Foreign Tongues, the Stones' 25th studio album. The podcast will delve into studio techniques, creative influences, and songwriting approaches while featuring never-before-heard new songs and studio outtakes. Robert Smith and Steve Winwood, both of whom appear on the new album, will contribute perspectives to the series alongside the production team.
The album itself showcases considerable sonic diversity. Mick Jagger has emphasized that the Stones approach music across multiple genres—from rock to country to ballads—rather than adhering to a single style. The upcoming record includes contributions from Paul McCartney, features a cover of Amy Winehouse's "You Know I'm No Good," and incorporates a country-influenced love song titled "Ringing Hollow." Two singles, "Rough And Twisted" and "In The Stars," have already been released, with "Jealous Lover" set to debut on June 26.
Evolution and Musical Range
Foreign Tongues represents the follow-up to 2024's Hackney Diamonds and demonstrates the band's willingness to experiment across stylistic boundaries. Keith Richards and Jagger have long drawn inspiration from country music, citing influences like Hank Williams. Rather than imitating these predecessors, the band has absorbed their aesthetic to create original material that reflects their enduring appreciation for diverse musical traditions.
