The arrangement creates an unusual dynamic where luxury resort operations continue normally alongside HBO's production schedule, blending fictional narrative with lived resort experience.

Where Filming Is Taking Place

Château de la Messardière, a 19th-century palace-turned-resort managed by exclusive French hotel company Airelles, serves as the principal filming location. The property operates as a functioning luxury hotel during production, maintaining its standard clientele while hosting cast, crew, and equipment. Hotel Martinez in Cannes, a historic Hyatt property built in 1929, has also been confirmed as a major shooting venue. The landmark hotel's blue-carpeted spiral staircase and positioning near the Palais des Festivals make it a natural fit for the show's emphasis on glamorous European settings.

Unconfirmed reports suggest the Mandarin Oriental Lutetia in Paris may also feature in the season, though HBO has not officially announced additional locations. The Cannes Film Festival itself will serve as a backdrop to this season's narrative.

Oscar-winning actress Laura Dern headlines the cast, alongside BAFTA-winners Steve Coogan and Vincent Cassel. Actors Max Greenfield and others complete the ensemble. Marie-Claire Boudaud, the hotel's director of communications, confirmed that suites at the property command premium rates—the largest suite on the top floor reaches €30,000 per night during peak season.

One guest at Château de la Messardière documented an unexpected encounter with Dern poolside, where the actor was filming while wearing a Missoni caftan—the identical designer piece the guest had purchased at the hotel's boutique the previous day. Such moments illustrate the surreal overlap between production and hospitality at these dual-purpose venues.
