The United States has conducted nine consecutive nights of air strikes targeting Iranian military infrastructure, with explosions reported across multiple cities including Sirik, Jask, Tabriz, and Chabahar. The escalating military campaign coincides with renewed Iranian attacks on commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and the death of three American service members in recent days.

Expanding Campaign Against Iran

Pentagon officials stated the strikes aimed at degrading Iranian military capabilities used to attack vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz. Targeted sites included Iranian military command centers, air defense systems, coastal surveillance installations, maritime capabilities, missile and drone launch facilities, and communications networks. Early Monday local time, explosions were reported across Iran's southern coastal regions, areas that have endured repeated strikes throughout the nine-day campaign. The northwestern city of Tabriz experienced attacks for the first time since the escalation began, expanding the geographic scope of military operations.

Casualties and Wider War Concerns

A third American service member was confirmed dead after being killed during a controlled detonation of a downed Iranian drone in northern Iraq. The US military also located unidentified remains in Jordan following a separate Iranian attack that resulted in two additional American troops being killed and one reported missing in action. President Donald Trump stated Iran had been hit "very hard" in response to these casualties, signaling the administration's commitment to continued military pressure.

Hormuz Corridor Under Pressure

The British maritime authority reported a vessel struck by an unknown projectile off Oman's coast early Monday, with the ship catching fire and becoming adrift. The crew was safely evacuated by tugboat. Iranian Revolutionary Guard officials claimed two tankers had been "brought to a halt" in the region, though these assertions could not be independently verified. Meanwhile, Iran launched retaliatory strikes using missiles and drones, with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claiming strikes on US aircraft at Jordan's Aqaba airport and US military facilities in Kuwait and Bahrain.

Energy infrastructure has become a focal point of the conflict, with Iranian attacks damaging facilities in Kuwait over the weekend and disrupting global oil supply chains. An energy analyst warned that global energy markets will remain disrupted as long as fighting continues and Gulf region energy facilities remain damaged.
