Wildlands Festival has confirmed a substantial electronic dance music lineup for its Brisbane and Perth summer dates, headlining American house producer John Summit alongside British grime pioneer Skepta and drum and bass collective WORSHIP. The festival reclaims its traditional New Year's Eve slot in Brisbane on 31 December 2026 before moving to Perth on 2 January 2027, with programming across house, techno, trance, jungle, drum and bass, UK garage, grime and bass music genres.
Festival Positioning and Artist Selection
Festival organisers have repositioned Wildlands around electronic music after previous years featured broader genre representation including hip-hop and pop acts. The 2026-27 edition places emphasis on dancefloor-oriented programming with what organisers describe as a carefully curated rather than casually assembled artist roster. Chicago-based John Summit arrives as one of contemporary electronic music's largest global draws, with close to one billion career streams, two number-one records on United States dance radio and a Billboard Music Awards nomination for his debut album.
Skepta brings international prominence to the grime and UK hip-hop sectors, having transitioned the genre from London's underground scenes into mainstream global recognition. His inclusion provides significant live counterweight to the predominantly electronic program while maintaining the festival's established connection with contemporary British club culture.
Notable Bookings and Stage Setup
The lineup includes the Australian debut of WORSHIP, a drum and bass collective comprising Sub Focus, Dimension, Culture Shock and 1991. Rather than conventional back-to-back DJ performances, WORSHIP operates as a unified performance project drawing from its members' combined catalogues. Additional artists include Amsterdam-based producer KI/KI, fellow Americans Disco Lines and Hannah Laing, plus Nia Archives, Overmono and Funk Tribu.
The Brisbane Showgrounds and Perth's Arena Joondalup will feature three distinct stages. The Sahara Stage returns as an open-air setup, while the Summit Stage continues from previous years. New for this edition is The Wilds Stage, designed to offer revellers on-stage access alongside DJs in a more intimate setting.
