Anne Hathaway, 43, is expecting her third child with jewelry designer Adam Shulman, 45, and revealed the news during an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers. The actress joked that she and her husband were shocked the pregnancy worked, despite knowing what they were doing. The couple is calling the baby their "buzzer beater" because of the timing.

The Revelation and Initial Reaction

Hathaway disclosed her pregnancy while wearing a custom white Zac Posen-designed GapStudio dress on the late-night talk show. When host Seth Meyers asked how she was doing, she described their emotional state in one word: "shocked." The actress explained that although she and Shulman had intentionally tried to conceive, they were surprised when it actually happened. "We knew what we were doing," she told Meyers. "But we were so shocked it worked."

The couple previously announced the pregnancy during a St. Tropez getaway last month, and Hathaway subsequently posted to Instagram with the caption "Baby, I'm yours." She kept the pregnancy private during promotional activities for Devil Wears Prada 2 in June but has since openly displayed her growing bump while promoting her latest project, Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, set to release in theaters on July 17.

Growing Family and Parenting Advice

Hathaway and Shulman, who married in 2012, are already parents to sons Jonathan, 10, and Jack, 6. During the interview, the actress sought parenting advice from Meyers, who has three children of his own with his wife Alexi Ashe. Meyers offered reassuring perspective, explaining that raising three children "goes from terrified to like a TV show you binge." Hathaway responded warmly to the comparison, saying she loves the current experience and is ready for "a new cast member."

In 2019, Hathaway had openly discussed the challenges she faced trying to conceive, describing fertility struggles as "really painful and very isolating" and filled with self-doubt. She emphasized that pregnancy isn't always a straightforward experience and acknowledged that many people trying to conceive face complications beyond the idealized narrative often presented in media.
