Chisholm appeared to aggravate his right hamstring while running to first base on a groundout in the ninth inning, visibly limping back to the dugout. He remained in the game initially, frequently stretching and grabbing at the affected muscle.

The Yankees pulled Chisholm after Chicago intentionally walked him with a runner on third base and two outs in the 11th, replacing him with José Caballero. Following the game, Chisholm reported the injury felt like a cramp and that treatment improved his condition. Manager Aaron Boone downplayed the severity, stating trainers do not believe it is serious.
