The Ivory Coast international, 19, has already agreed personal terms with Paris Saint-Germain, complicating Arsenal's pursuit of the player valued at £102 million by the German club. Transfer analyst Fabrizio Romano confirmed Arsenal made recent inquiries but face significant obstacles in bringing Diomande to the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal's Pivot After Rogers Setback

Mikel Arteta had identified Morgan Rogers as Arsenal's top attacking priority for the summer window. However, Rogers selected Chelsea over the North London club, with the Blues agreeing a deal worth £117 million to Aston Villa. The 23-year-old, capable of playing as a winger or attacking midfielder, was scheduled to undergo a medical at Stamford Bridge. Romano revealed Arsenal had internally valued Rogers at approximately £90 million to £100 million maximum, making Chelsea's commitment a significant financial overreach from their perspective.

Following Rogers' departure to Chelsea, Arsenal swiftly shifted focus to alternative targets. Diomande emerged as a candidate after impressing in the Bundesliga, where he recorded 12 goals and eight assists during the previous season. His performances at RB Leipzig attracted interest from multiple elite clubs, including Liverpool and PSG, before Arsenal made their move.

PSG's Advantage in the Diomande Race

Despite Arsenal's recent contact with Diomande's representatives, Paris Saint-Germain holds a substantial advantage. The French club has already secured an agreement on personal terms with the winger and continues active negotiations with RB Leipzig over a transfer fee. Romano noted that while Arsenal made exploratory calls to understand the situation, PSG's existing agreement with the player creates a significant barrier to any Emirates move. Leipzig have maintained a firm asking price of €120 million for the international talent, demonstrating their resolve not to accept below their valuation.

Arsenal's interest in Diomande is not their sole avenue for reinforcement. The club is also monitoring developments involving Barcelona and Atletico Madrid regarding Julian Alvarez. Should tensions between Alvarez and Atletico escalate, Arsenal could potentially pursue the striker if Atletico decides to sell during the August transfer window, providing a contingency option alongside their winger search.
