Champion Boxer Hannah Rapp Dies in Bicycle Crash in Texas

Hannah "Hanarchy" Rapp, a 26-year-old rising boxer working toward a world title opportunity, was killed in a vehicle collision while cycling in Brazos County, Texas. Authorities arrested the driver and charged him with manslaughter, marking a sudden end to the athlete's promising career in professional boxing.

The Incident

Deputies responded to a major crash on the 23000 block of FM 159 just before 10 a.m. on a Saturday in July. The collision involved a vehicle and a bicyclist, with emergency responders providing medical care at the scene. Rapp was transported to a local hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

Investigators determined that the driver, identified as Charles Medina, 31, passed two cyclists traveling along FM 159. After passing them, Medina stopped his vehicle, reversed, and struck one of the cyclists—Rapp. Medina was arrested without incident and taken to the Brazos County Detention Center. Authorities stated they believe the incident was isolated, with the investigation remaining active as detectives continue gathering evidence.

A Dedicated Athlete

Rapp had relocated from Indiana to the Bryan-College Station area approximately two years before her death. Despite having only five years of boxing experience, she rapidly built momentum in the sport. She worked full-time at Texas A&M while pursuing her boxing ambitions, using vacation days and sometimes unpaid time off to prepare for competitions and travel to fights.

In a feature published just weeks before her death, Rapp discussed her determination to balance professional employment with her athletic pursuits. She had been chasing a world championship opportunity, establishing herself as a notable competitor in North American boxing circles.
