Across the Portuguese top flight, he registered 12 clean sheets and demonstrated advanced distribution skills, ranking second for successful passes with 846 and fourth for passing accuracy at 75 percent among Portuguese goalkeepers.

International Recognition and Contract Details

Hornicek's progression earned him a call-up to the Czech Republic squad, where he won his first senior international cap in May during a 2-1 friendly victory over Kosovo. The goalkeeper also represented his country at the Under-21 European Championships, establishing himself as a rising talent on the international stage. Newcastle moved swiftly to finalize the deal, with Hornicek joining the squad immediately upon arrival in Spain, allowing him to integrate with his new teammates during pre-season preparations.
