While scattered thunderstorms did move through the Pittsburgh North Shore area in the mid-to-late afternoon, bringing early closure to the nearby Pittsburgh Pride Festival, the widespread severe weather system did not materialize in the city. Meteorological forecasts had predicted the possibility of thunderstorms in the region, though the most significant severe conditions remained south of Pittsburgh.

He acknowledged that the predicted severe conditions had not reached Pittsburgh by the time of his second post, but defended the decision by noting that his large concert stage could become dangerous in high-wind conditions, potentially putting attendees at serious risk.
