Advanced statistics revealed troubling signs in his approach: Rogers posted a career-high 40 percent fly ball rate while pulling air balls at a 29.2 percent clip, yet managed only three home runs. Detroit is proceeding with Eduardo Valencia as the primary backup catcher behind everyday starter Dillon Dingler. Rogers issued a statement to Tigers fans thanking the organization for his six seasons in Detroit, calling his time with the team "some of the best of my life."
