Orioles Recall Cameron Weston for MLB Debut While Managing Prospect Roster
The Baltimore Orioles recalled 25-year-old pitcher Cameron Weston from Triple-A Norfolk ahead of their series against Toronto. He can spin it really well.

The Baltimore Orioles called up right-hander Cameron Weston from Triple-A Norfolk for his major league debut, adding depth to the bullpen ahead of a series against Toronto. Weston, a 2022 eighth-round draft pick, becomes only the second pitcher drafted by Baltimore under general manager Mike Elias to reach the majors for the franchise.

The Call-Up and Context
Weston's recall came as the Orioles optioned right-hander Trey Gibson to Norfolk following Gibson's first career win on Tuesday against the Rays, where he threw 5⅔ innings of one-run ball. The 25-year-old Weston entered the season ranked as the Orioles' No. 17 prospect after a solid 2024 campaign with Norfolk, where he posted a 4.59 ERA across 29 games. This season, his numbers at Triple-A have been less consistent, with a 6.26 ERA over 11 games through early contests, though his strikeout rate improved significantly—he has fanned 40 batters in 27⅓ innings.
Manager Craig Albernaz became familiar with Weston during spring training when the pitcher attended big league camp as a non-roster invitee. In two Grapefruit League outings, Weston threw five scoreless innings, allowing only two hits while recording eight strikeouts and two walks. Albernaz praised the prospect's arsenal and delivery. "I enjoyed watching him pitch," Albernaz said. "Kind of a funky look from the right, a little lower slot. He can spin it really well. The strike quality has been better, and he's been tough on righties, just because of his arm slot."
Arsenal and Development
Weston possesses a diverse pitch mix anchored by a sinker and sweeper at Triple-A, with secondary offerings including a slider, splitter, and changeup. His lower arm slot creates particular challenges for right-handed hitters. The Orioles valued his ability to provide length out of the bullpen, a capability the organization needed during its 10-game homestand, which stood at 5-1 heading into the Toronto series.
Weston's ascension marks a milestone for the Orioles' player development pipeline under Elias. If he appears in a game, he will join only Kade Strowd as a Baltimore-drafted pitcher to reach the majors under the current regime, which began in November 2018. Other arms such as Brandon Young and Trey Gibson were developed by the organization but signed as undrafted free agents.
