On taxation, Burnham suggested potential cuts to income tax for lower earners could be examined in the upcoming budget. When pressed on restoring the 50p top rate of income tax—previously implemented during Gordon Brown's tenure in 2010—Burnham declined to rule it out, describing such decisions as "premature" given the current financial environment.
