Orton's Swift Return Timeline

Orton last competed at WrestleMania 42 in April, where he lost to Cody Rhodes. During that match, commentators referenced a back injury that had sidelined the veteran performer. However, Orton later suggested on social media that he was exaggerating the severity to enjoy time away from the ring before pursuing his 15th world championship. His imminent return could position him to resume his feud with Rhodes or initiate a program against CM Punk, who is headlining SummerSlam night one against Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship.

Owens' Extended Recovery

Owens' absence has been considerably longer. The former champion last competed in March 2025—more than 16 months ago—after undergoing neck surgery. His recovery period forced him to miss the last two WrestleManias. During his rehabilitation, Owens has remained visible to audiences through WWE's digital platforms, appearing in club programming with Kit Wilson and collaborative videos featuring Sami Zayn and Becky Lynch. He also served as a coach on season three of the A&E competition series WWE LFG, keeping his profile active despite his in-ring absence.
