Widespread Power Disruptions and Storm Impact

The severe weather system impacted a broad geographic area, with Baltimore County reporting the most significant outages at nearly 4,300 customers without power. Baltimore City accounted for 2,497 outages, while Carroll County experienced disruptions affecting 1,478 customers. Beyond Maryland, a tornado watch extended across the D.C. region until 10 p.m., with earlier warnings issued for Stafford, Fauquier, Culpeper, and Spotsylvania counties in Virginia.

The primary threats to the region centered on damaging wind gusts and extremely heavy rainfall capable of producing localized flooding. A flash flood warning remained in effect for Washington, D.C., and surrounding suburbs until 9:30 p.m. The National Weather Service indicated that the most intense period of storm activity was expected between the initial warning time and 7 p.m., with conditions improving significantly after 9 p.m.

Immediate Impacts and Forecast Outlook

The severe weather forced operational adjustments to regional events; the scheduled Washington Nationals game at 6:45 p.m. faced likely delays due to storm conditions. Following the passage of the storms, clearing skies were expected overnight, with substantially improved conditions developing by midweek and into the weekend.

Weather forecasters predicted pleasant conditions for the following days, with partly sunny skies, decreased humidity, and temperatures warming into the mid-80s.
