Sony Expands PlayStation Plus Game Catalog for July with Avatar, Rise of the Ronin, and Classic Titles

Sony has unveiled its July PlayStation Plus game catalog, headlined by Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and Rise of the Ronin, alongside three additional major titles and two remastered PS2 classics. Game availability varies by region, with staggered release dates across the United States, United Kingdom, and Japan before reaching global availability on July 21.

The July Lineup

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora leads the month's offerings as a first-person action-adventure set in an unexplored region of Pandora's Western Frontier. Players assume the role of a Na'vi who was kidnapped and trained by the RDA, a human military corporation. After fifteen years of captivity, the protagonist escapes and must rediscover their connection to their Na'vi heritage while defending Pandora against the RDA's continued threats.

Rise of the Ronin, developed by Team Ninja, shifts to a historical setting with a combat-focused open-world action RPG spanning war-torn nineteenth-century Japan. The narrative takes place in 1863, during the collapse of the Tokugawa Shogunate, as Western ships arrive at Japan's borders and the nation descends into political chaos, disease, and military conflict. Players create their own warrior and shape Japan's fate through their choices.

Firefighting Simulator: Ignite places players in the role of a firefighter in an American Midwest city, emphasizing cooperative multiplayer gameplay for up to four participants or NPC-controlled crew members. The simulation focuses on tactical fire response and civilian rescue operations.

Additionally, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita's Rewind offers a return to classic Saturday morning television aesthetics, while Sony is bringing back two PS2 titles—Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy and Indigo Prophecy—exclusively to PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers.

Regional Release Strategy

Sony continues to experiment with staggered release windows for PlayStation Plus content. Rise of the Ronin becomes available on July 15 in the United States and United Kingdom, with a July 16 release in Japan. Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and the remaining titles launch globally on July 21, with earlier access limited to select regions.
