The View co-host Sunny Hostin represented her son Gabriel in a trespassing citation issued by Metro-North authorities, and body camera footage reveals she repeatedly referenced her background as a former federal prosecutor during the incident. Gabriel Hostin, a 2025 Harvard University graduate with no prior criminal record, was stopped near Commerce Drive at New Rochelle station on June 16 after officers observed him on railroad right-of-way marked with no-trespassing signs.

The Incident and Response

Metropolitan Transportation Authority police documented that the 23-year-old was running near an electrified third rail before being approached by officers. Gabriel questioned whether a summons was necessary, and an officer responded by explaining that trespassing in the railroad right-of-way constituted an arrestable offense. Police ultimately issued him a citation rather than making an arrest, noting his cooperation and clean background check.

Body camera video obtained by Fox News Digital captured Hostin arriving at the scene and communicating with officers. During the interaction, she introduced herself as a co-host of The View and emphasized her credentials as a former federal prosecutor. She described the situation as an innocent mistake and highlighted her son's academic achievements and absence of any criminal history.

Legal Defense and Dismissal Request

Hostin, who holds a law degree and previously worked as a federal prosecutor, took on her son's legal representation in the case. She submitted a detailed written request to the district attorney seeking dismissal before Gabriel's scheduled July 31 court hearing. In the letter, Hostin explained that her son was jogging in the area as an avid runner and former junior Olympic track athlete when he noticed a gravel incline suitable for hill training. She noted that a gate at the entrance to the incline was standing open and no visible no-trespassing sign was posted on the gate itself, indicating Gabriel believed it was an accessible area.

Hostin argued in her dismissal request that her son had worked to build an exemplary academic and personal record, and that dismissal would prevent unnecessary consequences for a young man who poses no risk to the community. The case status following the July 31 hearing has not yet been disclosed.
