Tommy Robinson Meets Elon Musk's Father in Moscow During Russian Visit

British activist Tommy Robinson has travelled to Russia, where he met Elon Musk's father Errol at a Moscow hotel, according to video footage Robinson shared publicly. The encounter raises fresh questions about Robinson's international relationships and financial backing, particularly given Russia's designation as a hostile state by the British government.

The Moscow Meeting

Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, posted video evidence of meeting Errol Musk at the Shalyapin bar located within Moscow's Metropol Hotel. The venue is among the city's most expensive accommodations, with standard rooms costing between £300 and £350 per night, whilst suites exceed £500 nightly. Errol Musk had travelled from Saint Petersburg, where he attended the Kremlin-backed annual economic forum, before connecting with Robinson in the capital.

When asked by journalists about his presence in Russia, Robinson stated he came to observe how "this country got itself so well on to the straight and narrow" and to experience "the beauty of a civilised society." He dismissed concerns about Britain-Russia relations, claiming the narrative positioning Russia as an adversary has "died a natural death" and arguing that only those who benefit from the framing continue promoting it.

International Profile and Political Connections

Robinson's Moscow visit extends a broader pattern of international engagement. Earlier this year, he travelled to the United States, where he met with figures from the MAGA political movement, including a state department official. Following that trip, Robinson told supporters in London that he had secured funding commitments from wealthy American backers. His latest Russia appearance comes three weeks after a rally he organized drew tens of thousands of participants to London streets.

Errol Musk maintains a documented relationship with Russian political circles. He is a vocal propagandist for the Putin regime, has made multiple visits to Russia, and has given interviews expressing admiration for Vladimir Putin as a strong leader. Musk has also reportedly pursued various projects in Russia, including research initiatives and discussions regarding resettlement of South African families. He has been interviewed by far-right groups connected to sanctioned oligarch Konstantin Malofeev.

Concern Among British Lawmakers

The appearance of Robinson and others aligned with far-right movements in Moscow prompted alarm from British officials. Labour MP Calvin Bailey, a member of parliament's defence committee, characterized the development as serious, noting that "political warfare is central to Russia's aggression against the UK and Europe." The Russian state has made deliberate efforts to cultivate relationships with Western far-right figures and influencers as part of its broader geopolitical strategy.

Robinson's 2020 visit to Russia included statements about potential British-Russian cooperation to preserve Christian values and identity. His return suggests continued engagement with Russian circles and represents another chapter in his increasingly international political profile, whilst also highlighting divisions over Britain's relationships with governments deemed adversarial by Westminster.
