Two Men Execute Illegal BASE Jump From Seattle's Space Needle in Brazen Stunt

Two individuals bypassed security measures at Seattle's Space Needle and jumped from the observation deck Friday evening, deploying parachutes mid-fall in what police confirmed as an illegal BASE jumping incident. The suspects escaped the scene before officers arrived, and their identities remain unknown as of the investigation's ongoing status.

How the Incident Unfolded

The two men purchased legitimate admission tickets and entered the Space Needle around 8:50 p.m., according to Seattle police. Security footage shows the suspects spent time on the observation deck, appearing to scout their location before retreating to a restroom. When they emerged moments later, both were wearing helmets, signaling their intent to bystanders.

Witness Jacob Jarreau described the moment of execution: the men burst from the restroom and ran toward the glass barriers facing northbound, with Lake Union visible beyond. "They were running towards the glass, and they jumped up," said witness Bri Ramos. "That's when Jacob was like, 'They're climbing up, they're climbing up.'" Both suspects then vaulted over the glass and performed backflips before successfully deploying their parachutes, departing the scene before security could respond.

Investigation and Security Response

Seattle police responded at 9:21 p.m. after the jump was reported. Officers made contact with Space Needle security personnel, who acknowledged uncertainty regarding where the suspects landed. Despite efforts, neither individual was located by responding officers. The Space Needle confirmed cooperation with investigators and stated it is conducting a comprehensive security review of the incident, which it characterized as illegal.

Multiple videos captured by visitors at the observation deck were shared on social media, creating a public record of the stunt.
