Newcastle defender Dan Burn spent a week at Disney World in Florida to acclimatise to the extreme heat expected at the upcoming World Cup. The 34-year-old credits the strategy, recommended by England manager Thomas Tuchel, with helping him perform well during England's warm-up friendly against New Zealand.

Heat Preparation Strategy

Tuchel advised his players to spend time in the United States over the summer to adjust to the elevated temperatures they will face during the tournament. Host venues across America, Canada, and Mexico are expected to experience scorching conditions, with some stadiums like Miami's Hard Rock Stadium anticipated to be among the hottest across all tournament locations.

Burn decided to combine family time with tactical preparation, taking his children to the theme park while deliberately exposing himself to Florida's intense summer heat. He highlighted the roller coaster Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind as a particular highlight of his visit, with the 6ft 7in centre-back easily meeting the height requirements for the ride.

The acclimatisation approach appeared to pay dividends during England's recent friendly fixture. Burn came on as a substitute for the second half of the match against New Zealand, and reported feeling significantly more comfortable with the temperature than he might have otherwise.
